Well, the word "doula" means "a woman who serves" and now refers to a trained and experienced professional who provides continuous physical, emotional and informational support to the mother before, during and just after birth(birth doula); or who provides emotional and practical support during the postpartum period.(postpartum doula)
As your birth doula we would meet prenatally 2-3 times, I would support you during labor and birth and I would come over for one postpartum appointment to check in.
